Hanna Kosonen (born February 27, 1976 in Savonlinna ) is a Finnish politician and former winter athlete and world champion. She is a member of the Finnish Center Party (KESK) and since August 9, 2019 Minister of Science and Culture of the Republic of Finland .

Sports

At the world championships in ski orienteering , Kosonen was world champion with the team and third in the individual in 2000 in Krasnoyarsk . Four years earlier she won two junior world championship titles and a bronze medal in Banská Bystrica and Donovaly .

politics

Kosonen was elected to the Finnish Parliament in 2015 and 2019 for the Center Party in the constituency of Southeast Finland and became a member of the Committee on Education and Culture. Two years later she also became a member of the city ​​council of her hometown Savonlinna. In 2019 she was re-elected to parliament for the 2019-2023 term. On August 9, 2019, Kosonen was appointed Minister of Culture and Science in Antti Rinne's cabinet. She replaced Annika Saarikko , who was on maternity leave . Saarikko is scheduled to take over her post again in August 2020

Kosonen is the mother of two children and divorced since 2017.
