Hannes Gassert (* 1981 ) is a Swiss entrepreneur , co-founder and board member of Liip as well as co-founder and vice-president of the Opendata.ch association . In 2018 he was elected by the Federal Council to the nine-member board of the Swiss cultural foundation Pro Helvetia .

Life

Gassert studied bilingual computer science and media science at the University of Friborg (Switzerland) . In 2007, parallel to his studies, he founded his first company, Liip AG. The holocratically structured SME employs 160 people in Zurich, Lausanne, Bern, Friborg and St. Gallen.

Gassert has been campaigning for a sustainable technology policy since 2008, primarily at the national level in the parliamentary group on digital sustainability . As a co-founder and board member of Opendata.ch, Gassert has been committed to a sustainable Swiss data economy and more innovation and transparency in the public sector since 2011.

Hannes Gassert initiated several event series such as the Webtuesday or the network guild. From 2011 to 2016 he co-curated the international innovation and design conference LIFT.

Hannes Gassert has been a partner of the crowdfunding platform we make it since 2014. In the same year he founded the strategy consultancy crstl with Nicola Forster , which implements interdisciplinary innovation projects. In 2017 he joined Powercoders, a programming school for refugees, as a board member. In the same year he was named "Digital Shaper 2017" by "Digitalswitzerland".

Since 2014 Hannes Gassert has been a member of the Internet Policy Expert Group of the SP Switzerland and co-author of its basic Internet paper. As a board member of the Zurich 9 section, he presides over the digitization commission of the SP Canton of Zurich. In 2019, Gassert ran for the National Council in the canton of Zurich .
