Hannes Lührsen

Hanns-Gunther "Hannes" Lührsen (born March 13, 1907 in Bargteheide ; † January 13, 1986 in Heidelberg ) was a German architect .

He became an architect and planner for Wernher von Braun's rocket team at the development center in Karlshagen and designed the buildings, streets and other infrastructure in Peenemünde . In March 1944, like Magnus von Braun and others, he was briefly imprisoned.

In Operation Paperclip , he came to Huntsville, Alabama , where he worked at the Redstone Arsenal . In 1951 he planned the most important shopping center at the time and the Parkway , Huntsville's city motorway.

Lührsen died in the Menglerbau in Heidelberg. He is buried in Hamburg-Ohlsdorf .
