Hannes Scholz

Hans-Joachim "Hannes" Scholz (born April 18, 1934 in Breslau ; † September 17, 2017 in Bielefeld ) was a German football coach and official.

Career

Originally from Silesia , Scholz came to Bielefeld after the end of the Second World War . As an employee of the Bielefeld City Sports Office, Hannes Scholz was responsible for the stadium management of Arminia Bielefeld's stadium, which was then still known as Alm , and took over facility management in the 1980s and 1990s. From 1970, Scholz took on various tasks in the club and was a football lobbyist in the amateur division, was involved in the youth division and was also a referee supervisor. In the 1970s and 1980s he coached Arminia's amateur team before becoming a team manager for health reasons. According to his own statement, Scholz trained all soccer teams that could have been trained in the club, except for the women's team. On April 16, 1988, Scholz trained as an interim solution the professional Arminia team in the second division game at the Stuttgarter Kickers . Five days earlier, Joachim Krug had to take his hat off and Arminia lost the game 1-0. He was succeeded by Ernst Middendorp .

On December 8, 2014, Hannes Scholz was made an honorary member of Arminia Bielefeld. After his death, the artificial turf pitch behind the west stand of the SchücoArena, previously known as the “Hartalm”, was renamed Hannes Scholz Platz .
