from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Hannes Taugwalder (born December 21, 1910 in Zermatt ; † November 8, 2007 in Aarau ) was a Swiss writer, local politician and entrepreneur.

Life

Taugwalder came from the canton of Valais . He grew up in modest circumstances in Zermatt and suffered a handicap in his left hand. Nevertheless, he was able to complete a bank apprenticeship in Zurich and climb a steep career: he was at the helm of a department store and a knitwear factory. Until the 1980s, he and his company Aroleid AG manufactured women's and children's clothes.

Taugwalder wrote texts in Valais dialect and wrote his autobiography with “Das verlorene Tal” (1979) and “Der verlorene Weg” (1982), “Einsamer Mond” (1990) and “Auf-Bruch” (1992).

His political commitment took him as a member of the Party of Farmers, Traders and Independents , who in the 1971 SVP rose, in the Einwohnerrat the city of Aarau , where he served from 1970 to 1973, and the Joint Commission of the Swiss clothing industry. He later joined the FDP , and in his final years he was non-party.
