The Hannover Harmonists are a German a cappella group from Hannover . Her repertoire ranges from sacred and secular music from five centuries to current pop music.

history

The Hanover Harmonists were founded in 1988 on the initiative of Heinz Hennig from the ranks of the Hanover Boys Choir . His son Sebastian Hennig is a founding member and still belongs to the ensemble today. When it was founded, the ensemble consisted of six singers, today it operates as a quintet consisting of Michael Lieb (soprano countertenor), Hendrik Torno (alto countertenor), Rüdiger Jantzen (tenor), Sebastian Hennig (baritone), Michael Jäckel (bass) ).

In terms of content, the ensemble has developed from a male sextet based on the style of the Comedian Harmonists to a broad a cappella formation with a classical and modern repertoire, which includes in particular polyphonic church music from the Renaissance, classical and contemporary pop music as well as own compositions.
