The Hanover Musketeers were an American football club from Hanover in Lower Saxony .

history

The Hanover Musketeers were founded in 1997. Already after the first season in the Oberliga 1998, they were promoted to the Regionalliga Nord-Ost, in which they played from 1999 to 2001 and took first place. After the 2001 season, he was promoted to the 2nd Bundesliga North, in which the Musketeers took 2nd place in 2002 and also in the 2003 season.

With the Cologne Crocodiles' license revocation for the 2004 GFL season , the Musketeers moved up to the top German league. After 11 defeats and only one win in the 2004 regular season, both relegation games against the Cologne Falcons were lost and they were relegated to the 2nd Bundesliga North, in which the Musketeers play in 2005 to stay up.

After a mixed season in 2005 in the 2nd Bundesliga North, the Hanover Musketeers only saved themselves to a non-relegation place on the last matchday. For financial reasons, no license for the 2nd Bundesliga was granted for the 2006 season. This is how the Musketeers start in the Regionalliga Ost.

Before the third game of the 2006 season, the Musketeers had to withdraw from the game for economic reasons and file for bankruptcy. In the absence of funds, the procedure was not opened and the association was deleted from the register of associations.

The youth team was spun off from the main club and initially as an independent division in the popular sports club Sportgemeinschaft von 1874 Hannover e. V. established . The new official name was Hannover Musketeers in SG 74 . On December 31, 2007, the division broke away from the main club of its own accord and reoriented itself. The Hannover Grizzlies emerged from this team .

In 2006 the Musketeers junior tackle team played in the 1st Youth Performance League North.
