Hanns-Friedrich Kunz

Hanns-Friedrich Kunz (born February 21, 1945 in Ochsenhausen ) is a German choir director .

Life

Hanns-Friedrich Kunz initially studied school music at the Stuttgart University of Music. He then moved to Freiburg, where he studied singing with Brigitte Münz from 1969 to 1973. During his studies he was a member of the Gächinger Kantorei and received choral conducting lessons from its director Helmuth Rilling in Frankfurt.

He attended various master classes, among others with Dietrich Fischer-Dieskau and Erik Werba . In 1974 he was a prizewinner in the "Lied and Oratorio" category at the ARD competition in Munich. In addition to his engagement as a concert singer at home and abroad, he was a lecturer at the music academies in Freiburg and Karlsruhe for many years.

From 1975 to 1987 Hanns-Friedrich Kunz was the conductor of the Figural Choir Offenburg. From 1987 to April 2006 he directed the Bach Choir Tübingen . Hanns-Friedrich Kunz was appointed Artistic Director of the Stuttgart Hymn Choirboys in 1992 . He held this office until his retirement in March 2010.

In 2002 he was awarded the title of church music director (KMD) by the regional bishop . In 2003 he received the Baden-Württemberg Medal of Merit . In March 2010 the Lord Mayor of Stuttgart presented him with the citizen's medal.
