Hanns Theis

Hanns Theis (born August 29, 1921 in Hamm ) is a German economist and politician ( SPD ).

Life and work

After graduating from elementary school and attending secondary school, Theis passed the Abitur as an external student. He then completed an apprenticeship as a banker at Dresdner Bank in Duisburg , which he completed with the clerk examination. He passed the specialist examination in bookkeeping and accounting and continued his education at the Dortmund Social Academy . He then took up a degree in economics and law and political science at the universities in Prague and Münster , which he completed with an examination as a graduate economist. From 1939 to 1945 he took part in the Second World War as a soldier , most recently as a reserve officer. At the end of the war he was taken prisoner, from which he was released in 1946.

Theis worked as a research assistant at the Dortmund Social Academy. He was also a member of the board of the Städtische Sparkasse and from 1964 to 1986 chairman of the board of the Stadtwerke in Duisburg.

Political party

Theis has been a member of the SPD since 1946.

MP

Theis was a council member of the city of Duisburg after 1945. He was a member of the German Bundestag from 1957 to 1965. He was first drawn into parliament via the state list of North Rhine-Westphalia and won a direct mandate in the Duisburg II constituency in 1961 .
