Hannsludwig Geiger

Hannsludwig Geiger (born August 27, 1902 in Stettin ; † December 8, 1980 in Seeheim a. D. Bergstrasse ) was a German journalist and writer .

Life

After his studies and doctorate Dr. phil. Geiger was a member of the editorial team of the Greifswalder Zeitung and the German-conservative Reichsbote , which was banned in 1936. In the same year he went to Berlin as a press officer for the Lutherrat . There he worked in the culture department of the Deutsche Allgemeine Zeitung until the end of the war . In 1946 he founded the Munich branch of the Erich Schmidt Verlag . From 1953 to 1967 he published the Evangelical Literature Observer, from 1954 to 1957 he was part of the literary management of the German Book Association in Darmstadt . He was a board member of the Bavarian Press Association and chairman of the Evangelical Press Association of Hesse and Nassau .

In literary terms, Geiger worked primarily as an editor and commentator on popular editions of the works of Matthias Claudius , Theodor Fontane , Johann Christian Günther , Friedrich Hebbel , ETA Hoffmann and Eduard Mörike .
