Hannu Lepistö (born May 17, 1946 ) is a Finnish ski jumping coach who has repeatedly worked as a national coach since 1980 when he became the coach of the Finnish national team. His most successful protégé was Matti Nykänen in the early 1980s , whom he led to Olympic victory in Sarajevo in 1984 . From 1985 to 1992 and from 2004 to 2006 he was head coach in Italy. In 1993 Dieter Thoma hired him as an exercise bike. From 1994 to 1998 he trained the Finnish and from 2002 to 2004 the Austrian ski jumpers. From 2006 he was coach of the Polish national team around Adam Małysz . In 2008 he was dismissed three days before the end of the season because of the poor performance of the Poles. His successor was Łukasz Kruczek , who had previously been employed as an assistant coach . From January 2009 to March 2011 Lepistö worked as a private trainer for Adam Małysz. He has been Janne Ahonen's private trainer since December 2014 .
