Hannu Allan Taipale (born June 22, 1940 in Veteli , Keski-Pohjanmaa ) is a former Finnish cross-country skier .

When he first participated in the Nordic World Ski Championships , Taipale won the silver medal in the relay competition in Oslo in 1966 . Over 50 km he reached fifth place, over 15 km seventh. He achieved his only Olympic podium finish at the 1968 Winter Olympics in Grenoble when he also finished third in the relay. He was unable to repeat these successes at the 1970 World Championships in Vysoké Tatry and at the 1972 Winter Olympics in Sapporo , his best placing was eighth place in the 50 km race in 1970. At Svenska Skidspelen , he won third place in 1969 the relay and second place over 30 km and in 1971 third place over 30 km. In early March 1972 he won the Lahti Ski Games over 50 km. Furthermore, Taipale was able to win three Finnish championship titles in the course of his career, two over 30 km (1967 and 1970) and one over 50 km (1971).

Hannu Taipale makes a living as a farmer.

His son Kuisma Taipale is also a cross-country skier.
