Hans-Dieter Jancker

Hans-Dieter Jancker (born January 7, 1952 in Grevesmühlen ) is a German journalist and athlete.

After high school and military service in the NVA he studied at the Red Monastery called Section Journalism of Karl Marx University in Leipzig . In addition to various positions at the current camera, he also worked on articles for the sports department of the DFF. In 1979 he came to Dresden to report from the Dresden district as a correspondent for the current camera . A yellow sweater that he regularly wore as a gift from the West was noticeable during his TV appearances.

After the turnaround and the associated redesign of the current camera , Jancker disappeared from the show. One of his last television appearances was the live broadcast of Helmut Kohl's appearance in front of the ruins of the Dresden Frauenkirche on December 19, 1989 . In 1990/91 Jancker worked for the state broadcaster Saxony (DFF) for the program “Bei uns in Sachsen” and was responsible for the culture magazine “Cultus”.

After the establishment of Mitteldeutscher Rundfunk (MDR), Jancker was not taken on as a permanent employee, but continued to work as a freelancer, mostly for the program MDR-Aktuell, first in Dresden, later from 2002 in Leipzig. After years as an editor, Jancker worked as a broadcast director until he retired in 2017.

In addition to his work as a television journalist, Hans-Dieter Jancker was already known as a marathon runner during the GDR era . As a member of SV Elbland Coswig-Meißen, he has successfully participated in numerous national and international running events in recent years. In his age group M 65, he is one of the top German marathon runners. At the pre-alpine marathon in September 2006, he won the German championship in his age group in the ultra trail in the Allgäu . In 2008 he became German champion over 50 km in the M55 age group in Marburg. In his more than 25 participations in the Rennsteiglauf (since 1984), he took first place several times in his age group on the super marathon route. He has been racing for the LG Ultra Run since 2017 and has won several German championship titles. 2017: Six hours, 50 km, ultra trail. 2018: 100 km, 50 km, ultra trail. In 2018 Jancker became world champion over 100 kilometers in the age group M65 in Sveti Martin na Muri (Croatia).

Hans-Dieter Jancker is distantly related to the national soccer player Carsten Jancker , who was also born in Grevesmühlen .
