Hans-Dieter Rinkens

Hans-Dieter Rinkens (born November 24, 1942 in Aachen ) is a professor emeritus for mathematics and its didactics at the University of Paderborn and the former president of the German Student Union .

After graduating from high school in 1962, Rinkens studied mathematics and physics in Aachen and Bonn to become a high school teacher. After the first state examination in 1966, he received his doctorate in 1969 at the University of Bonn with a subject in applied mathematics. From 1969 to 1973 he was a research assistant and later a lecturer at the Siegen University of Education (from 1972 Siegen University ). In 1973 he received the call to Paderborn. There he was Vice-Rector for Structural and Budgetary Issues from 1976 to 1983, and Rector of the University from 1987 to 1991 . From 1996 to 2006 he was President of the German Student Union , the umbrella organization for student unions in Germany.
