Rolf-Dieter Postlep

Rolf-Dieter Postlep (born March 17, 1946 in Wolfsburg ) is a German economist who has been honorary president of the Academy for Spatial Research and Regional Planning (ARL) in Hanover since 2015 . Postlep has been President of the German Student Union since 2018 ; previously he was President of the University of Kassel from 2000 to 2015 .

Rolf-Dieter Postlep made his Abitur in 1965 at the Ratsgymnasium in Wolfsburg. He then completed an apprenticeship as a banker at Frankfurter Bank in Frankfurt am Main, Hesse . In 1969 he began studying economics at the Philipps University in Marburg , graduating in 1973 with a degree in economics .

During this time he was also a lecturer at the University of Potsdam . From 1996 he worked at the University of Kassel as professor and head of the General Economic Policy department.

Postlep has been President of the University of Kassel since September 2000, succeeding Hans Brinckmann . He prevailed against two competitors. In February 2006 he was confirmed for a second, also six-year term. On February 1, 2012, Postlep was again confirmed in office for six years, but left the office prematurely at the end of September 2015 for reasons of age.

In February 2014, the German University Association published a ranking in which Postlep was chosen as the sixth best President of a German university. Since October 1, 2012, Postlep has also been the spokesperson for the Conference of Hessian University Presidia for two years . In this capacity, he particularly campaigned for adequate basic funding for the Hessian universities.

Memberships

Postlep was, among other things, a member of the broadcasting council of the Hessischer Rundfunk , the advisory board of the Kasseler Sparkasse and chairman of the board of trustees of the Protestant University of Applied Sciences Darmstadt . Since 2015 he has been president of the Academy for Spatial Research and Planning (ARL) and was established in December 2016 again for [outdated] elected two years.
