Hans Brinckmann

Hans Brinckmann (born June 13, 1934 in Hamburg ) is a German lawyer and former president of the University of Kassel . He is a recognized expert in environmental and media law as well as biopolitics .

Career

Hans Brinckmann studied law at the University of Bonn from 1955 to 1959, completing the first state examination . From 1959 to 1964 he studied applied physics and communications engineering at the TH Darmstadt , where he graduated as a graduate engineer. From 1965 to 1972 he was a research assistant at the TH Darmstadt specializing in law. From 1970 to 1972 he received a habilitation grant from the German Research Foundation on the subject of “legal planning”.

In 1973 he was appointed professor for public law with a focus on building and planning law and environmental protection law at the University of Kassel. From 1974 to 2001 he was a member of the “Administrative Automation” research group together with Klaus Grimmer. From 1980 to 2002 he was a member of the board of directors of the Scientific Center for Vocational and University Research and from 1989 to 1999 President of the University of Kassel . From 1999 to 2002 he held the chair for public law and administrative science at the University of Kassel and retired in 2002.

Research priorities

Brinckmann's research interests include changing legal, organizational and political structures in the public sector through the use of new information and communication technologies, legal informatics, data protection, telecommunications law, local law and politics, innovation in the university system and building and planning law.
