Hans-Heiner Bergmann

Hans-Heiner Bergmann (born September 27, 1939 in Sachsenhausen (Waldeck) ) is a German author , ornithologist and behavioral scientist . He has published numerous scientific books that appeal to a wider audience with their easily understandable language.

Career

After studying biology and Latin , he received his doctorate at the Philipps University of Marburg in 1970 with a behavioral study on cichlids . 1977 followed his habilitation in zoology, since 1978 he was an academic adviser and from 1986 as an associate professor (associate professor) at the University of Osnabrück in the working group "Ethology and Didactics of Biology". Here his main focus was on ornithological research. One of the main areas of research was bioacoustics and research on water birds until his retirement in 2003 . In 1994 the working group "Geese Research" was founded under his direction, which carried out numerous research projects in Northern Germany and which today exists as the "European Blessgans research program ".

Hans-Heiner Bergmann wrote several books, including standard ornithological works such as Die Biologie des Vogel . He published a total of more than 100 articles in professional journals . From 1995 to 2006, Hans-Heiner Bergmann worked on the editorial team of Der Falke magazine . For many years he has been co-editor of the pocket calendar for bird watchers . Since the mid-1990s, Hans-Heiner Bergmann has been working increasingly as an animal filmmaker. Various DVDs combining film and sound recordings with identification aids on native birds have since been released.

From 1988 to 1990 Hans-Heiner Bergmann was Secretary General of the German Ornithological Society (DO-G), in which in 1995 he was also the main initiator for the establishment of the “Goose Ecology” project group. The project group consists of professional and voluntary water bird specialists who meet regularly to exchange experiences and for joint projects.
