Hans-Helmut Decker-Voigt (born March 17, 1945 in Celle ) is a German expression therapist , music therapist , hypnosis therapist, supervisor , writer and publicist .

Life

Hans-Helmut Decker-Voigt grew up in a rectory in Celle . After studying music in Germany and then educational sciences up to the intermediate diploma, followed in the United States a master’s degree in expression and music therapy at Lesley College / today Lesley University Cambridge, exchange university of the German Academic Exchange Service DAAD. In 1985 he wrote a dissertation in psychology (German translation by Goldmann, Munich, “Aus der Seele played”), not validated in the FRG, so he wrote a second doctorate in musicology on the subject of music in developmental psychology “With music into life - music in pregnancy and early childhood ”.

In 1969, Decker-Voigt took over the management of the regional association of music schools in Baden-Württemberg and in 1970/71 the office of director of the music school for the district and city of Uelzen . Until 1975 he worked as a college teacher for music at the Protestant college for social education in Düsseldorf-Kaiserswerth . In 1978 he took over the position of a lecturer in music therapy at the Hamburg University of Music and a works and research officer for music therapy at the Hannover Medical School.

From 1985 to 1989 he held a C3 professorship in Hamburg. Decker-Voigt was a co-founder of the Institute for Music Therapy at the Hamburg University of Music and Drama , and its director from 1990 to 2010. He received a C4 professorship and is a senior professor there after his retirement . In 1996 he was President of the 8th World Congress of the World Federation of Music Therapy in the Congress Centrum Hamburg .

Decker-Voigt has been honorary professor (together with the cellist Mistlav Rostropovich) of the L.-u. M. Rostropovich-Hochschule Orenburg / Rus, since 2009 honorary doctor of art studies there, since 2016 honorary doctor of medicine from the Staatl. Orenburg Medical University. Other honors: Honorary President of the Hungarian Music Therapy Association, Medal of Honor from the ELTE University Budapest. Further honors from Tallinn University, Estonia, Women University Japan etc. v. a.
