Hans-Jürgen Breidenstein

Hans-Jürgen Breidenstein (born March 5, 1940 in Frankfurt am Main ) is a German publisher and publisher. He was a board member in the Association of German Book Trade .

Live and act

After completing his apprenticeship as a publishing clerk, Breidenstein began studying German as well as business and economics . In 1967 he joined the family business , the Breidenstein publishing house. In 1970 he became managing partner of the Brönner-Umschau group of companies , to which the Breidenstein publishing house belonged and which was itself family-owned. Later the group based in Frankfurt am Main traded under the name "Umschau-Verlag Breidenstein" and even later under the name "Mediengruppe Breidenstein".

From 1974 to 1977 Breidenstein was a board member of the German Book Trade Association. From 1977 to 1989, the member of the “Specialist Group Manufacturing Book Trade” was chairman of the “New Media” committee within the Börsenverein. From 1979 to 1992 he was again on the board of the Börsenverein. He was also a member of the board of the specialist group “Specialist magazines in the Federal Association of German Newspaper Publishers ”. In 1992 he became a board member of AV-Verlage e. V. Frankfurt am Main.

In 2003, Breidenstein, who was also Vice President of the Frankfurt am Main Chamber of Commerce and Industry , initiated insolvency proceedings for the Breidenstein media group , whereupon he was exposed to criticism of his management. He then moved to live with his partner in Vellmar , who runs a bookshop in the city center. Together, they form the basis of a literary association with a diverse range of annual events, especially with the bookshop, which is often insufficient in capacity.
