Hans-Jürgen Karius

Hans-Jürgen Karius (born June 12, 1947 in Niebüll ; pseudonym KARIUS ) is a German artist.

Life

Hans-Jürgen Karius studied from 1968 to 1972 at the Cologne Werkschulen and from 1972 to 1977 at the Düsseldorf Art Academy , from which he graduated as a master student. Karius is a painter and draftsman (mostly pastel chalk or felt pen). His works are exclusively abstract, but based on experiences of nature and landscape. In addition to his paintings and drawings, Karius developed an interest in photography as early as the 1960s. It condensed in the late 1980s. Hans-Jürgen Karius mainly creates representational black and white photographs; since the 2000s he has also been taking color photographs; he works in Düsseldorf .
