Hans-Joachim Bauer (born June 22, 1941 in Mannheim ) is a German lawyer and was President of the Jena Higher Regional Court from 1993 to 2006 .

Life

Bauer studied law at the Ruprecht-Karls-Universität Heidelberg and passed his first state examination in 1965, the second state examination in 1968. He then began his work as an assessor at the Frankenthal regional court in 1969 , where he was appointed judge at the regional court on June 6, 1972. Shortly thereafter, until 1976, he was seconded to the Federal Constitutional Court as a research assistant . From October 1, 1977 to 1986, Bauer then worked as a judge at the Zweibrücken Higher Regional Court . After a brief activity at the Rhineland-Palatinate Ministry of Justice, he was appointed President of the Kaiserslautern Regional Court on February 27, 1987 . As part of the establishment of ordinary jurisdiction in the new federal states from 1990, the Rhineland-Palatinate justice system was responsible for establishing the corresponding structure in two of the three district court districts of the federal state of Thuringia. In addition, many lawyers from Rhineland-Palatinate moved to Thuringia in order to support the development in responsible positions, including Bauer. He went to Erfurt to lead a development team in cooperation with the Thuringian Ministry of Justice. From the summer of 1991, Bauer was commissioned to push ahead with the development of a future higher regional court. On April 30, 1992, he was also appointed President of the Erfurt District Court. With the establishment of the new Thuringian Higher Regional Court in Jena in September 1993, Bauer was appointed its president, who remained until his retirement in 2006. From 1995 Bauer also became a member of the Thuringian Constitutional Court , of which he was elected President in 2000.
