Hans-Joachim Haase (born July 3, 1915 in Parchim ; † December 20, 2001 in Berlin ) was a German watchmaker and optician .

Life

From 1953 to 1981 he taught at the State College for Optics and Photo Technology Berlin (SFOF), most recently as senior lecturer . The main focus of his teaching activities was in the fields of optics , glasses fitting and refraction / eyeglass determination. At the same time, he devoted himself intensively to research into binocular vision .

Subsequently, based on the Turville Infinity Balance method (TIB), he developed new types of tests for testing binocular vision and summarized these in a vision testing device that was widely used by Carl Zeiss under the name “Polatest”, especially in the German-speaking world . Haase gained practical experience with this measuring device over the years and developed its own measuring and correction method on this basis. Together with the physicist Helmut Goersch , he subsequently developed a detailed theoretical model to understand the processes involved in binocular vision disorders. The procedure was initially called the "Polatest method" and is now known as the measurement and correction method according to H.-J. Haase (MKH) known.
