Hans-Joachim Priebe

Hans-Joachim Priebe (born January 28, 1947 in Lübeck ) is a German anesthetist and professor emeritus.

Life

Hans-Joachim Priebe is a son of the Lübeck lawyer of the same name Hans-Joachim Priebe († 1957) and the gynecologist Theresia Priebe, b. Hiebl (1915–2014), who was awarded the commemorative medal of the Society for the Promotion of Charitable Activities in 1987 .

He attended the Johanneum zu Lübeck until he graduated from high school in 1966 and studied human medicine . In 1972 he passed the medical state examination. From 1972 to 1974 he was a medical assistant and was 1973 at the Albert-Ludwigs-University of Freiburg to Dr. med. PhD. From 1974 to 1978 he completed his specialist training in anesthesiology at Harvard Medical School and at the Beth Israel Hospital in Boston , where he worked as a senior physician from 1978 to 1980.

From 1980 to 1988 he was a senior physician at the Basel Cantonal Hospital . In 1986 he completed his habilitation at the University of Basel . In 1989 he was appointed C3 professor for anesthesiology at the Albert Ludwig University of Freiburg and senior physician at the University Clinic for Anesthesiology.

He was a board member of the British Journal of Anesthesiology from 1994 to 1999 and secretary of the European Society of Anesthesiologists since 1998 .
