Hans-Joachim Stief

Hans-Joachim Stief (born May 26, 1926 in Hirschberg , Silesia , † April 1, 2015 ) was a German politician ( SPD ) and a member of the Lower Saxony state parliament .

Life

After elementary school, Joachim Stief completed an apprenticeship as a tailor. He was then called up for military service. After the end of the Second World War , he was initially involved in youth work and educational work. Later he worked again in the context of his learned profession in the clothing industry. He became chairman of the works council and was a member of the textile clothing union .

In 1956 he became a member of the SPD's district board in Wolfenbüttel . From 1958 to 1972 he took over the management of the SPD Salzgitter and in the SPD district of Braunschweig. In 1962 he became a member of the Lower Saxony State Committee and from 1972 led its business. He was also a member of the Salzgitter City Council from 1968 to 1972. From June 21, 1970 to June 20, 1986 (7th to 10th electoral term) he was a member of the Lower Saxony state parliament.

He was married to Gerda Stief geb. Pohl (1927–2012) and had three children, including Karin Stief-Kreihe , who, with interruptions, was a member of the Lower Saxony state parliament from 1995 to 2013 and belonged to the SPD parliamentary group.
