Hans Wiesner
Hans Wiesner (born September 10, 1925 in Görlitz ; † November 2, 2013 in Leipzig ) was a lieutenant general of the National People's Army (NVA) of the GDR and for many years head of the Friedrich Engels military academy .
Life
The son of a carpenter learned to be a carpenter after attending elementary and middle school from 1941 to 1942. In 1943 he was drafted first for Reich Labor Service , then for military service in the Wehrmacht. He was taken prisoner by the Soviets in 1944 and attended an antifa school there .
In 1949 he returned to Germany, in 1950 he became a member of the SED and a member of the German People's Police (DVP). After attending an officer's school, he became a VP Commissioner and then worked as a political officer in VP , KVP and NVA offices. From 1960 to 1962 he studied at the General Staff Academy of the USSR, graduating as a military scientist. In 1963/64 he was colonel head of the political administration of the Leipzig military district. On May 1, 1964 he was appointed major general and was then, as the successor to major general Heinrich Heitsch , commander or head of the Friedrich Engels military academy until December 1986. On January 9, 1969, he was appointed full professor of military science and in 1973 promoted to lieutenant general. He was retired on December 31, 1986. From 1963 to 1986 he was a member of the SED parliamentary group of the People's Chamber and from 1964 to 1986 a member of the SED district leadership in Dresden.
