Hans-Peter Nolting (born January 5, 1945 in Bremervörde ) is a German psychologist . Nolting teaches educational psychology at the Georg-August-Universität Göttingen .

Nolting's approach

In his approach, Nolting tried to formulate an integrative explanatory model of learning-theoretical and frustration- theoretical assumptions. He suspects that the development of aggression is partly caused by genetic makeup and also by learning processes. He designed an explanatory model with four categories that determine aggressive behavior :

  1. the current, internal processes
  2. the external factors
  3. the requirements of the person (attitudes and skills)
  4. and finally the human development potential.

With this model he tries to give teachers guidelines and orientation aid in difficult teaching situations.
