Eric Close (born May 24, 1967 in Staten Island , New York ) is an American actor . He celebrated his first success in the soap opera Santa Barbara , internationally known he was Dark Skies - Deadly threat , the Mystery - miniseries Taken by Steven Spielberg and the crime drama Without a Trace - .

Life

Close is the oldest of three brothers. When he was seven years old, his family settled in San Diego , having previously lived in Indiana and Michigan . In 1989 he graduated from the University of Southern California with a degree in communications .

In 1991 he got his first nameless television role. In the period from 1992 to 2000 he was one of the regular cast of six television series, but none of them had a long running time. Close by was known science fiction series Deadly threat - Dark Skies and the Mystery - miniseries Taken by Steven Spielberg .

He had his breakthrough as an actor as Special Agent Martin Fitzgerald in the 2002 to 2009 series Without a Trace, produced by a special department of the FBI in New York that investigates missing persons.

Close has been married since 1995 and lives in Los Angeles with his wife and two daughters .
