Hans-Rudolf von Gaertner

Hans-Rudolf von Gaertner , sometimes also a gardener, (born April 3, 1906 in Berlin , † April 23, 1982 in Hanover ) was a German geologist.

Life

He received his doctorate in 1931 at the University of Göttingen under Hans Stille ( Geology of the Central Carnic Alps ). From 1930 to 1939 he was at the Prussian State Geological Institute. He was director at the Federal Institute for Geosciences and Natural Resources in Hanover and also a lecturer at the University of Hamburg (he had the title of professor).

In 1965 he received the Hans Stille Medal . He was also a member of the Leopoldina since 1965 . He was editor of the journal of the German Geological Society.
