career

The son of the former goalkeeper of Kickers Offenbach, Hans Eigenbrodt , played since 1948 in the youth of Eintracht Frankfurt. On November 20, 1955, he made his debut in the "eagle jersey" in the Oberliga Süd. In a 3-2 home win against FC Schweinfurt 05, he ran alongside center runner Hans Wloka as the right wing runner in the World Cup system used at the time. But it wasn't enough to become a regular player in the next few years. Even in the 1958/59 successful round , he only had five league appearances in the Oberliga against Ulm 1846 (2-0), SV Waldhof (4-1), SpVgg Fürth (3-0), VfB Stuttgart (2-2) and Munich 1860 (1: 1) had to show, rather he moved into the championship formation in the final round of the German soccer championship due to the injuries of Ivica Horvat , Dieter Stinka and Eberhard Schymik . Eigenbrodt made his debut on May 30th in a home game against 1. FC Köln in the finals. Eintracht had to do without Schymik and Stinka. He ran as the right wing runner on the side of the defense chief Horvat and the left wing runner Hans Weilbächer . Shortly before half-time, Horvat was also injured. He stayed in the dressing room after the half-time break. Unfortunately, his injury later turned out to be so severe that he could never play for Eintracht again. The southern German champions won 2-1 against Cologne. Eigenbrodt then took part in the other group matches against 1. FC Köln (4: 2), FK Pirmasens (6: 2) and Werder Bremen (4: 2) and moved into the final with the 12: 0 group winners June 28, 1959 in Berlin against local rivals Kickers Offenbach.

Eigenbrodt formed the defender pair with Hermann Höfer and after 90 minutes it was 2-2. In extra time, Frankfurt prevailed with 5: 3 goals and won the German championship. In most of the duels, Eigenbrodt had to deal with Helmut Preisendörfer . With the reigning German champion Eigenbrodt finished 3rd in the Oberliga Süd in 1959/60 and had completed 15 league games. On the ninth game day, October 25, 1959, he suffered a broken fibula in a 2-0 home defeat against FC Bayern Munich and was therefore only able to participate in the league games again in February 1960. The sporting highlight should be the games in the European Cup. Eigenbrodt ran for the first time on March 16, 1960 in the return match against the Wiener Sportclub for Eintracht in the competition of national champions. With a 1-1 draw in Vienna, the German champions reached the semi-finals. In front of goalkeeper Egon Loy , the defenders Friedel Lutz and Hermann Höfer, he formed the Eintracht defensive as a stopper with the two outside runners Dieter Stinka and Hans Weilbächer. With the same defensive formation the two clear wins against Glasgow Rangers (6: 1, 6: 3) and thus the entry into the final against the Spanish defending champion Real Madrid. At Hampden Park in Glasgow, Alfredo Di Stéfano and Ferenc Puskás's team prevailed 7-3 in a high-scoring game, but Eintracht did not disappoint. Eigenbrodt had the thankless task of fighting di Stefano, who was the official center forward, who was the official center-forward, but far more than an outstanding conductor from his own penalty area, who determined the real game.

In 1961 and 1962 he was runner-up with Eintracht twice in a row in the Oberliga Süd and ended the era of the first-class league in 1962/63 with a fourth place. He belongs to the group of players who brought the new concentration of performance in the DFB area to run on August 24, 1963. Eintracht opened the Bundesliga era with a home game against 1. FC Kaiserslautern and Eigenbrodt played as the right defender in the 1-1 draw. He fought the Lauterer left winger Harald Braner . The team from Riederwald finished in 3rd place at the end of the round and the defender had played 15 league games.

In 1965 he had to end his active career due to sports disability. He later worked as a youth coach at Eintracht Frankfurt. In 1977 the team he was in charge of became the first German B junior champions .

His main job was a commercial clerk. He died on March 29, 1997 at the age of 61.
