Hans-Wilhelm Beutler

Hans-Wilhelm Beutler (born September 5, 1897 in Düsseldorf , † September 11, 1966 in Baden-Baden ) was a German economic functionary and politician ( FDP ).

Life and work

Hans-Wilhelm Beutler studied law and political science in Cologne, Bonn, Münster and Breslau and was awarded a Dr. iur. PhD. From 1923 he worked for Felten & Guilleaume . From 1926 to 1924 he held various management positions in industrial associations. In 1946, Beutler became managing director of the trade association for drawing and cold water works in Düsseldorf.

From 1949 to 1957, Hans-Wilhelm Beutler was managing director of the Federation of German Industries and from 1957 a managing member of the presidency.

He was involved in the preparations for founding the German Society for Foreign Policy .

Political party

In the Weimar Republic Beutler had the People's Conservative Association of Gottfried Treviranus belongs. In 1945 he participated with Franz Blücher and Hans Wolfgang Rubin in the founding of a Liberal Democratic Party in Essen , from which the Essen District Association of the FDP later emerged. From January 16 to June 28, 1946, he was the third chairman of the FDP regional association in North Rhine Province.

He was Vice President of the European Union and a member of the German Council of the European Movement .

Beutler was a member of the two appointed state parliaments of North Rhine-Westphalia from October 2, 1946 to April 19, 1947.

Honors

In 1953 he was appointed Knight of the Order of Knights of the Holy Sepulcher by Cardinal Grand Master Nicola Cardinal Canali and invested in Cologne Cathedral on December 8, 1953 by Lorenz Jaeger , Grand Prior of the German Lieutenancy .

In 1957 he was awarded the Grand Cross of Merit of the Federal Republic of Germany .

He was an officer in the Legion of Honor .
