Hans-Wolf Sievert

Hans-Wolf Sievert (born November 10, 1941 in Osnabrück ) is a German entrepreneur and university professor.

After studying social and economic sciences and sinology at the universities of Hamburg , Göttingen and Erlangen-Nürnberg from 1961 to 1969, Sievert worked in foreign trade in Hong Kong from 1969 to 1970 . 1971/72 Sievert was in professional social and economic psychology at the University of Linz Dr. rer. soc. oec. PhD. He worked for Deutsche Bank from 1972 to 1979 and was a member of its advisory board from 1983 to 2011. Since 1980 he was managing director of the Sievert building materials group and from 1986 to 2005 chairman of the board of Sievert AG in Osnabrück and from 2006 to 2018 its chairman of the supervisory board. Since then he has been Honorary Chairman of the Supervisory Board.

Since 1994 he has been a lecturer for international and intercultural management in the economics department at the University of Osnabrück. In 1997 the University of Osnabrück appointed him honorary professor. From 1997 to 2001 he was President of the Osnabrück University Society and then became an honorary member of its board. Since 2003 he has been a member of the University Council of Osnabrück University. In addition, Sievert has been a lecturer at the University of Economics in Warsaw since 2004 and visiting professor at the Chinese University of Science and Technology in Hefei since 2007 . He held other teaching positions and visiting professorships at the universities of Jena, Göttingen and Beijing. He is treasurer and a member of the Senate and the Administrative Council of the Lower Saxony Foundation . In 2012 he became chairman of the newly established Sievert Foundation for Science and Culture . He is also a corresponding member of the Institute for Migration Research and Intercultural Studies (IMIS) at the University of Osnabrück.

In 1989 he was appointed Honorary Consul of the Republic of Costa Rica . In 2004 he was awarded the Federal Cross of Merit. In 2009 he received the Hans Mühlenhoff Prize for good teaching , which is awarded by the University of Osnabrück and the Hans Mühlenhoff Foundation. In 2016 he was awarded the Justus Möser Medal by the city of Osnabrück for his extraordinary commitment to scientific and intercultural exchange and the strengthening of the relationship with Osnabrück's Chinese city of friendship, Hefei .
