Hans-Wolfgang Micklitz

Hans-Wolfgang Micklitz (* 1949 ) is a German lawyer .

Career

After graduating from high school in Langenberg (Rhineland) in 1967 , he studied law and sociology in Mainz, Lausanne / Geneva (as a DAAD scholarship holder), Giessen and Hamburg, where he graduated in 1973. After his legal clerkship, he passed the 2nd state examination there so well that he received a doctoral scholarship from the Friedrich Naumann Foundation from 1976 to 1978 . After a research stay in Montpellier in 1979 , Micklitz was a research assistant in Hamburg from 1980 to 1982 . He received his doctorate in 1983 with a dissertation on the repair contract, albeit in Bremen, where he had a position at the Center for European Legal Policy from 1982 and completed his habilitation in 1991 on international product safety law . He then became a professor at the Berlin University of Applied Sciences for Economics and moved to the University of Bamberg in 1994 . Since 2007 he has been on leave to work at the European University Institute in Florence. In 2016 he was elected a member of the Academia Europaea . He was also a visiting professor at Somerville College of the University of Oxford .
