Hans Adolf von Plessen came from the originally noble Mecklenburg-Holstein noble family von Plessen ; he was the son of the Mecklenburg Rittmeister of the Mecklenburg-Strelitz Guard and Chamberlain, Karl Hartwig von Plessen (* 1741; † November 8, 1807), and Mathilde Christiane von Plessen, née. Countess von Bothmer (March 16, 1766 - November 8, 1847). In 1821 Hans Adolf von Plessen married Bernhardine Wilhelmine von Brandenstein , the daughter of the Mecklenburg-Schwerin District President August Georg Freiherr von Brandenstein and Karoline Ulrike von Bassewitz . The marriage had six children.

Professional background

Hans Adolf von Plessen attended the Katharineum in Lübeck until Easter 1809. From 1809 to 1812, Plessen was matriculated at the law faculty of the University of Berlin . In 1813 he was a second lieutenant in the Mecklenburg bodyguard. In 1814 he became a staff adjutant at the headquarters of Lieutenant General von Vegesack. After changing to a civilian career, he became Grand Ducal Mecklenburg-Schwerin Chamberlain in 1817, (later) Mecklenburg Real Privy Councilor and Lord Chamberlain, Excellency . He was a knight of the Order of St. John and the Swedish Order of Swords . He died on the oldest Plessengut Damshagen and was buried in Schwerin.
