Hans Baier (artist)

Hans Baier (born June 10, 1912 in Salzburg , † 1993 in Hallein ) was an Austrian sculptor , graphic artist and art teacher.

Life

Hans Baier attended the arts and crafts school and academy of fine arts in Vienna and was a student of Anton Hanak . In Munich he was assistant to the German animal sculptor and donor of ideas at the Salzburg Summer Academy , Fritz Behn . From 1946 to 1977 he was head of the wood and stone carving department of the Federal College of Hallein ( HTBLA Hallein ) - "Memorial Exhibition 2002".

He had exhibitions in Vienna, Innsbruck, Linz, Salzburg, Munich, Hamburg, Stuttgart, Frankfurt, Cologne, Zurich, Madrid, Athens, New York. Baier made purchases through the city and state of Salzburg, Innsbruck, the Federal Ministry in Vienna, Switzerland, Germany and Spain.

His wife was the academic painter Hedi Baier. His son Hannes Baier is a painter, designer and artistic director and lecturer at the Leonardo Art Academy in Salzburg.

Works

His work includes works in marble, stucco, bronze, stone, ivory, metal, wood, iron graphics and mosaic, fresco, relief and sgraffito. As commissions for public buildings and facilities in museums, schools, churches, state government, Baier created animal sculptures and portraits of personalities in wood, stone and bronze.
