Hans Barry

Hans Barry (* 1879 ; † June 17, 1966 in Clausthal-Zellerfeld ) was a German civil servant in the mining administration.

Life

After studying mining in 1905, Barry was appointed mining assessor and then worked in the Ruhr area as operations manager for the Rheinisch-Westfälische Schachtbaugesellschaft until 1914 . In the First World War he took part as a reserve officer, most recently as captain of the reserve. After the end of the war he joined the Clausthal mining inspection . He was appointed mountain master in 1920 and mountain ridge in 1921. In this position he took over the management of the central processing in Clausthal . In 1924 he became head of the Lautenthal mining inspection . He temporarily interrupted his work in the mining administration to take over the management of the Oeynhausen State Baths as bathing commissioner . In 1933 he returned to the state mining administration as Oberbergrat and member of the college at the Clausthal-Zellerfeld mining authority.

In addition to his professional activity, Hans Barry promoted the maintenance of mining history in the Upper Harz. The creation of the exhibition facilities in the Upper Harz Mining Museum, which he had built from original parts, goes back to his initiative .
