Herbert Dennert

Herbert Dennert (born September 29, 1902 in Berlin , † March 21, 1994 in Clausthal-Zellerfeld ) was a German miner and Oberbergrat at the Oberbergamt Clausthal .

Life

Dennert studied mining in Munich and Berlin and passed his main diploma examination in 1927. After working in various mining companies, he entered the civil service in 1935. In the same year he was made a mountain ridge. From 1938 he was employed by the Clausthal Mining Authority until he retired in 1967. From 1942 he was Oberbergrat.

Since 1932 he was a member of the NSDAP and SA. From 1938 he was SA-Oberscharführer. During the Third Reich he was a. a. responsible for the mining supervision of Mittelbau-Dora . After the war, Dennert was arrested and released from the mining office without notice. In the 1950s he was able to resume his work at the Oberbergamt.

Herbert Dennert worked intensively, especially after his retirement, for the documentation and preservation of witnesses to the Upper Harz mining history . He made a name for himself as an author and as the long-time chairman of the Upper Harz History and Museum Association (1961–1988). In this function he was also head of the Upper Harz Mining Museum . Among other things, he was successfully involved in maintaining the Samson shaft in Sankt Andreasberg and the structures of the Upper Harz water shelf .

Dennert fir

Between 1949 and 1981 he developed information boards in the form of a stylized fir tree, which, placed at historical mining sites, document the Upper Harz mining history. They have been known as Dennert firs since the 1980s .

He was an honorary member of the Clausthal fraternity of mallets and iron .
