Hans Batz

Hans Batz (born October 23, 1927 in Nuremberg ; † September 25, 1986 there ) was a German politician ( SPD ).

Life and work

After attending school, Batz completed an apprenticeship as a carpenter. He was drafted into the Wehrmacht in 1944, took part in the Second World War as a soldier and was most recently taken prisoner, from which he was released in 1946.

After his release from captivity, Batz worked as a carpenter and cabinet maker until 1952 . He then retrained as a welder, was employed by AEG in Nuremberg and had been a member of the works council there since 1955.

Political party

Batz joined the SPD in 1946 and was later deputy chairman of the SPD district of Franconia .

MP

Batz was a member of the city council of Nuremberg from 1960 to 1969 . In the 1969 Bundestag election, he was elected to the German Bundestag through a direct mandate from the constituency of Nuremberg-North , of which he was a member until 1980. From 1976 to 1980 he was deputy chairman of the Bundestag Committee on Transport and the Bundestag Committee on Post and Telecommunications.
