Franz Peter Basten

Franz Peter Basten (born August 22, 1944 in Trier ) is a German CDU politician .

Life

Franz Peter Basten studied 1965-1971 in Freiburg , Geneva and Mainz law . In 1974 he passed the second state examination in law and then worked as a personal advisor to the Rhineland-Palatinate Minister for Economics and Transport. He is married and has two children.

Basten was a member of the Rhineland-Palatinate Landtag from 1979 to 1985, briefly in 1987 and from 1991 to 1994 . From June 18, 1985 to May 31, 1988 he was State Secretary in the Ministry of the Interior , then until 1991 State Secretary in the Ministry of Economics and Transport of the State of Rhineland-Palatinate .

From November 10, 1994 to October 26, 1998, Basten was a member of the German Bundestag for one electoral term . He was elected for the CDU through a direct mandate from constituency 152 (Trier) in Rhineland-Palatinate.

Today he works as a lawyer and honorary consul of the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg .
