Hans Bendix (born April 14, 1909 in Breslau ; † May 13, 1988 in Staßfurt ) was a German chemist.

Life

Bendix attended the Johannesgymnasium in Breslau and then studied chemistry from 1929 to 1931 at the Friedrich Wilhelm University in his hometown. He then moved to the Technical University of Wroclaw and continued his studies there until 1936, interrupted by his military service in 1934/35. After passing his diploma, he received his doctorate in 1939 at the Technical University. As early as 1938 he was working as a chemist for the Staßfurt company Ergethan . This employment lasted until 1945. He then took over the management of a company also located in Staßfurt, which dealt with the production of household chemicals.

In 1953 he got a job as production director at Fahlberg-List , a large chemical plant in the Salbke district of Magdeburg . He became the company's technical director in 1958 and then director of research in 1967. He was largely responsible for the company's important position in the field of scientific research. In a short time, a large-scale plant for the production of hexachlorocyclohexane (lindane), a substance that was used as an insecticide at the time and later no longer used due to its harmful environmental effects, was developed and built. On September 4, 1964, New Germany published an interview with Hans Bendix. When asked, Bendix confirmed that the GDR's chemical industry was lagging behind leading countries in the field of herbicides. He called for a better concentration of research forces and an expansion of the competencies of the scientific and technical center.

In addition to working on pesticides and pesticides, he also worked in the field of pharmacy, in particular with amphetamines , anti-cough agents and X-ray contrast media . From 1970 to 1972 he was director of the traditional Schönebeck company Hermania , which was part of Fahlberg-List . From 1972 to 1974 he then worked as a division manager for chemical products. His contributions to the rationalization of the production of fertilizers and other chemical products were also important.
