Hans Berndt (doctor)

Hans Berndt (born April 4, 1927 ) is a German gastroenterologist, university professor and publicist.

Live and act

Hans Berndt studied medicine from 1946 to 1951. In 1954 he became a Dr .med at the Humboldt University in Berlin with a dissertation on cryoglobulinemia . PhD.

From 1959 to 1977 Hans Berndt worked at the Central Institute for Cancer Research of the Academy of Sciences of the GDR ( habilitation 1962, appointment as professor 1971).

In 1977 he was appointed chief physician at the clinic for internal medicine at the newly built district hospital in Neubrandenburg . In the same year he was appointed professor of internal medicine at the Academy for Medical Training in the GDR .

From 1982 to 1992 he was director of the university clinic for internal medicine and head of the department for gastroenterology at the Charité .

From 1965 to 1986 Berndt was a board member of the Society for Gastroenterology of the GDR (1977–1984 chairman) and from 1991 to 1993 chairman of the Berlin Society for Internal Medicine.

From 1966 to 1978, Hans Berndt was the editor of the journal Archiv für Geschwulstforschung and from 1982 to 1994 editor-in-chief of the journal for medical advanced training .

Honors

  • 1986: Ismar Boas Medal from the Society for Gastroenterology of the GDR
  • 1987: Honorary membership of the Society for Gastroenterology of the GDR
