Hans Carstens (politician)

Hans Carstens (born June 10, 1921 in Brokstedt ; † January 16, 1994 in Sievershütten ) was a German politician ( FDP , CDU ).

Life and work

After attending the elementary school in Brokstedt, Carstens, who was of Protestant faith, completed an agricultural education. From 1939 to 1945 he took part in the Second World War as a soldier . Since 1949 he has been an independent farmer in Sievershütten. From 1959 to 1972 he was deputy chairman and then chairman of the Schleswig-Holstein Landgemeindetag. On May 27, 1971, he was awarded the Federal Cross of Merit on ribbon .

politics

Carstens had been a member of the FDP since 1955 . In protest against the formation of the social-liberal coalition at the federal level, he joined the CDU on October 13, 1969.

In 1966/67 he was a member of the district council in the Segeberg district . From 1967 to 1971 and again from October 5, 1972, when he replaced Gottfried Wolff , until 1975 he was a member of the state parliament in Schleswig-Holstein .

Carstens was from May 18, 1951 to April 15, 1986 mayor of the community of Sievershütten and from 1955 to 1986 head of the Kisdorf office .
