Hans Christoph Scherer

Hans Christoph Scherer (born June 23, 1582 in Herbsleben , † November 14, 1632 in Erfurt ) was a German bailiff and diplomat .

His parents were Michael Scherer and Esther Quentin. As a soldier he took part in a Hungarian campaign against the Ottomans . He then became bailiff of the city of Erfurt in Großvargula . In this role he was negotiating partner of the Swedish king Gustav Adolf in 1632 during the occupation of Erfurt in the Thirty Years' War .

With his wife Maria Lehmann he had seven sons and four daughters. After his death in 1632 he was buried in the Michaeliskirche in Erfurt . His tomb still exists today.
