Hans Conrad Bodmer

Hans Conrad Bodmer (born December 16, 1891 in Zurich ; † May 28, 1956 there ) was a Swiss doctor and autograph collector .

Bodmer began collecting autographs and other relics from Ludwig van Beethoven at an early stage . The musicologist Max Unger was one of his advisors .

Bodmer bequeathed his valuable collection, which also included several pieces of furniture from Beethoven's possession, to the Beethoven House .

Bodmer and his wife Elsy geb. Stünzi (1893–1968) were also friends and patrons of Hermann Hesse , for whom they had a house built in Montagnola , which they made available to him and his wife Ninon for life.

His younger brother was the book collector Martin Bodmer .
