Hans Esser (fencer)

Hans Esser (born January 15, 1909 in Essen ; † unknown) was a German fencer who became German champion and won an Olympic bronze medal with the saber team in 1936.

Life

Hans Esser from the German Fencing Club in Düsseldorf won the bronze medal with the saber team at the unofficial World Championship in 1935 together with Julius Eisenecker , August Heim , Heinrich Moos and Richard Wahl . At the 1936 Olympic Games in Berlin , the German saber team with Erwin Casmir , Julius Eisenecker, Hans Esser, August Heim, Hans-Georg Jörger and Richard Wahl also won the bronze medal. With the Degenteam, Esser took fourth place in Berlin. In 1937 the first official world fencing championship took place; the German saber team with Erwin Casmir, Julius Eisenecker, Hans Esser, August Heim, Heinrich Moos and Richard Wahl again received the bronze medal.

Hans Esser won the German championship with the saber in 1941 and 1953 . At the Olympic Games in Helsinki in 1952 , Esser was eliminated with the saber team in the quarter-finals.
