Hans Fischer (engineer)

Hans Fischer (born August 8, 1956 in Nijmegen ) is a Dutch engineer and steel manager .

Life

After graduating from high school in 1975, Fischer studied mechanical engineering at the Hogeschool van Arnhem en Nijmegen and then mechanical engineering with a major in automotive engineering at the Technical University of Eindhoven , graduating in 1985 as a graduate engineer. He then began his professional career as a project manager in the new building department of Hoogovens Staal BV in IJmuiden . There he was involved in the rebuilding and modernization of the cold rolling tandem mill . In 1989 he became head of the cold rolling mill technology department and, in 1992, production manager of the cold rolling mill. In 1995 he was also in charge of the hot rolling mill . In 1996, as plant manager, he was responsible for the entire hot flat production and also for market development in the USA . In 2000 he switched to the steelworks division.

In 2001, Fischer joined Salzgitter Flachstahl GmbH as Technical Director . In 2006 the Supervisory Board of Salzgitter AG appointed him to the Executive Board as responsible for the Steel Division .

In 2010, Fischer received an honorary doctorate from the Clausthal University of Technology for his decisive impetus in the development of a new strip casting technology .

In 2010, Fischer moved to ThyssenKrupp AG as divisional chairman for the Steel Americas business area, with responsibility for production, processing and marketing in North and South America .

In 2012 Fischer returned to IJmuiden as Chief Technical Officer of Tata Steel in Europe with responsibility for production, technology, research, development and the environment. In 2016 he became Chief Executive Officer and Board Member of Tata Steel Europe.

Fischer is since 2003 member of the board of the Steel Institute VDEh and 2005-2009 member of the Presidium and the Board of the German Steel Federation . Since 2005 he has been a member of the board of the Research Association for Steel Applications. V. and its chairman since 2009.
