Hans Fleischer (politician)

Hans Fleischer (born July 7, 1906 in Pillau , † March 1, 1984 in Oldenburg ) was a German politician ( SPD ). From 1956 to 1961 and 1964 to 1981 he was Lord Mayor of Oldenburg.

Life

Fleischer attended secondary school in Königsberg and graduated in 1923. Between 1923 and 1926 he did an apprenticeship. Since June 1932 he was self-employed with a company for pipeline construction and sanitary systems with around 60 employees. In 1943 he successfully passed the master craftsman's examination in the plumbing trade. In 1945 he was expelled from Königsberg and settled in Oldenburg. In 1947 he re-founded a company for pipeline construction and sanitary facilities in Oldenburg with around 30 employees at last. For several years, Fleischer was elected chairman of the Association of Expellees Germans in Oldenburg and also co-founder of the building cooperative of East Expellees in Oldenburg. For eight years he was chairman of the supervisory board of the building cooperative of the East Expellees (1950–1958).

Fleischer was first elected to the Oldenburg City Council on December 15, 1948 . Here he was in the administrative committee, finance committee, building committee, economic committee, transport committee, housing committee and the refugee council.

In the fifth electoral period from May 20, 1963 to June 5, 1967, Fleischer was a member of the Lower Saxony state parliament .

He was also a member of the board of the Lower Saxony City Council and a member of the building committee. He was also a member of the German Association of Cities in the main committee.

Public offices

Fleischer was elected Lord Mayor of Oldenburg twice, he held this office from 1956 to 1961, then again from 1964 to 1981. At the end of his last electoral term , he was unanimously elected honorary mayor by the city council. He died three years later.

Honors

Hans-Fleischer-Straße was named after him in the Kreyenbrück district of Oldenburg.
