Hans Gösta Nagl

Hans Gösta Nagl (born April 16, 1910 in Bozen ; † February 24, 1995 in Linz ) was an Austrian painter and graphic artist .

Live and act

Nagl settled in Linz in 1920 and graduated there in 1928. He first studied at the Technical University of Vienna (technical physics), then moved to the University of World Trade in Vienna, where he graduated in 1933. He took evening courses with Paul Ikrath in Linz and refined his technique in self-study in Munich and Karlsruhe . In 1935 he joined the MAERZ artists' association . Until he was called up in 1940, he worked as a secretary to the management of a Linz brewery.

From 1945 he worked in Linz as a freelance artist, mainly with watercolor painting . Landscapes and motifs of technology were preferred objects in his work. He also dealt with industrial advertising graphics. Study trips led him a. a. to Norway and Sicily . He created an extensive documentation of numerous large buildings in the energy industry (storage and river power plants) in the Austrian Alps, on the Danube, on the Inn and on the Enns, as well as on major bridges for motorway construction and industrial facilities.
