Hans Gelling ( October 14, 1858 in Kassel - April 10, 1911 in Weimar ) was a German theater actor , director , director , director and playwright .

Life

After Gelling had decided to take up the stage in Berlin, he took lessons from Heinrich Oberländer and Franz Deutschinger .

He made his debut in Gdansk and then went to the German Theater in Pest. In 1884 he went to Schwerin, where he acted as a sedate lover and heroic father. There he also began directing and even became senior director.

In 1899 he took over the artistic direction of the Thaliatheater in Hamburg and in 1901 the Stadttheater in Essen as theater director and director, who remained director even after the merger with the Dortmund Theater .

Guest performances have taken him to Stuttgart, Hanover, Amsterdam, Rotterdam, Haarlem and Leiden as well as the Luther Festival in Gdansk. His best-known achievements included “Macbeth”, “Faust”, “Götz”, “King Lear”, “Tell” and “Wallenstein”.

He was married to the actress Valerie Chauvet de Taugly .

In 1909 he lived in the Ilsenhof in Gauting near Munich.
