Hans Harder (music teacher)

Hans Harder (born April 11, 1903 in Itzehoe ; † May 1, 1990 in Kiel ) was a German music teacher and professor at Kiel University.

Life

Harder was born in Itzehoe and attended the Kaiser Karl School there up to the 10th grade. Then he attended the preparatory institute and the teachers' seminar in Uetersen (today the Ludwig-Meyn-Gymnasium ), where he passed the first elementary school teacher examination in 1923. From 1924 to 1929 Harder studied at the State Academy for Church and School Music in Berlin-Charlottenburg . In the meantime, he passed the vocal teacher, organist and choir director exams. In 1929 he passed the examination for the first state examination for artistic teaching at secondary schools.

From 1928 to 1934 Harder was organist at the Zwingli Church in Berlin . In 1931 he passed the pedagogical examination for teaching at secondary schools, after which he was a three-year study assessor at Berlin high schools. In 1934 Harder was appointed to the Lauenburg College for Teacher Training and in 1935 was appointed lecturer. In 1939 he went to the college for teacher training in Kiel. In August 1939 he was called up for military service and seriously injured. In the process he lost his right arm and was taken prisoner by the Soviets, from which he was released in the summer of 1946.

After World War II, Harder was 1947-1950 teacher at the Lornsenschule in Schleswig . From 1950 to 1958 he was a teacher at the Kiel School of Academics and held a teaching position at the Christian Albrechts University in Kiel. In 1958 Harder became an associate professor for music education there and retired in 1968.
