Hans Heinrich Blotevogel

Hans Heinrich Blotevogel (born November 23, 1943 in Getmold ) is a German urban , economic and social geographer . He has been visiting professor for applied geography, spatial research and spatial planning at the Institute for Geography and Regional Research at the University of Vienna since 2012 .

From 1963 to 1969 he studied geography, German, sociology and philosophy in Münster, Tübingen and Bochum. He received his doctorate in 1972 from the Faculty of Geosciences at the Ruhr University Bochum , where he completed his habilitation in 1980 . In 1982 he was awarded the Karl Zuhorn Prize . From 1983 to 2004 he was professor of economic and social geography at the Gerhard Mercator University in Duisburg. From 2004 to 2009 he was professor for spatial planning and regional planning at the Faculty for spatial planning at the Technical University of Dortmund . From 2005 to 2008 he was managing director of the Institute for Spatial Planning (IRPUD). From 1997 to 1999 he was President of the German Society for Geography . In 2009/2010 he was President of the Academy for Spatial Research and Regional Planning . Since 2000 he has been a member of the Academia Europaea .
